Be praYed for right now

There is no-one available to pray for you live at this moment, but Rev Sarah Whittleston has recorded this prayer especially to give you hope and encouragement.
You could also be prayed for personally – regularly – if you wish.
These are the ways we can do this for you:
  • You can join one of our online prayer and support groups
  • You can join one of our existing local groups
See the Prayer Groups menu for more details.

SHORT PRAYERS From Miranda

A Christian Liturgy for those affected by cancer
Cancer is a wide all-encompassing illness. The very word has a big impact on the speaker and listener. These short prayers aim to acknowledge something of the experience of cancer and root it and ground it in the truth of God’s word. Whilst it is written from the perspective of the person with the cancer diagnosis, my hope is that it can also be prayed by friends and family.

O Lord
When I’ve found something in my body I’m not sure of
When suddenly ‘cancer’ is in my vocabulary,
The very word striking fear in me and those I love.
You Lord, are the name above all names,
At your name every knee shall bow.
I know you and you know me.
Lead me in the way of peace and freedom.

O Lord
When I’m waiting for scans, appointments and results.
When decisions loom ahead
And I’m travelling down a path I didn’t choose or foresee,
You Lord are familiar with all my ways
And all the days of my life are written in your book.
I am safe in your arms.
Lead me in the way of peace and freedom.

O Lord
When treatment is hard and painful
When the things that make me better, also make me sick,
How I hurt and I find it hard to be brave,
You Lord are the great healer
I reach out to touch your cloak like the woman in the crowd.
I place myself in your healing hands Lord,
Lead me in the way of peace and freedom.

O Lord
When fear grips tight and I am dismayed
When worry blinds and deafens me to everything around me,
And I imagine the worst possible outcomes.
You Lord, are with me; I will not be afraid
You are my God; You strengthen me and help me
I am held up by you.
Lead me in the way of peace and freedom.

O Lord
When the years of life before me look insecure and uncertain,
When I can no longer do the things I love to do,
And my body feels and looks different
You Lord make all things new.
My race is not run, though I have changed lane
Open my eyes to your will for me in these days
For I know You are before all things and in You all things make sense.
Lead me in the way of peace and freedom.
