Do you have skills to help Firm Roots grow?
Firm Roots Cancer Support are looking for skilled people who have suitable expertise to help us grow our organisation. You do not need to have experience of cancer yourself, as long as you have a heart for supporting those with cancer, and believe in the power of Christian prayer.
We are keen to hear from those who can consider offering some short-term expertise, or becoming a committee member. All these are non-salaried, voluntary roles.

OFFERING short term guidance and expertise
If you have any experience of setting up an unincorporated community group, we need help creating suitable governance structures. We think it unlikely that we would become a registered charity in the foreseeable future.
Committee membership
At the moment we hold monthly evening committee meetings online. Members are based in various parts of the UK and communicate by phone, email and virtual meetings.
We particularly need a Secretary.

- Networking & Growth: Organisation promotion, liaison with local churches, recruiting volunteers, new groups
- Public relations & Publicity: Liaison with the media, including social media
- Event organisation: Planning & managing conferences, retreats and training sessions
- Volunteer support: Ensuring volunteers feel valued, supported, trained and directed
- Fund Raising: For retreat days, events, publicity, website and running costs
- Website development: Design, SEO, monitoring and maintenance.
Personal attributes & skills
- Committed Christian
- Experience of working in some kind of team or group
- Experience of some of the tasks listed above
- Good standard of English and communication skills
- Familiar with Microsoft 365 or similar (Word etc), email and internet, virtual meeting platforms
- Previous work or knowledge of the management of small charities or community groups
